Christmas Luminary Project

The Christmas Luminary project was enthusiastically received at the September 20, 2012 Annual Meeting and carried out during Christmas, 2012 by the following:

  • Louise Landry
  • Eileen Piper
  • Bruce Wyman
  • Jim Barnatt
  • Cheryl Steele
  • MK Hopkins and Cissy Guidry
  • Cheryl Fullington
  • Gus Quinn
  • Leslie Knox

Numerous "lessons learned" were achieved through this effort. For 2013, the most likely approach will be to strictly use the battery powered candles VS the bags/bird-seed/sand approach.

Beautification Committee

As mentioned in the annual report, a great deal was accomplished through July of 2012.  To contribute your time and talent to this next year's effort, consider joiing the Beautificaiton Committee.

While proud of these achievements, much remains to be accomplished:

v replace existing street, stop sign and other poles with a more period look

v continue to strengthen ties with the SWLA CVB

v seek methods to achieve underground utilities

v consider beautification efforts such as the replacement of trees lost at Perkins Pointe due to Hurricane damage

v provide resources to homeowners to enable them to restore and preserve their homes as near as possible to the original design and to be aware of guidelines, process and awards

v monitor the recently formed City Historic Commission to ensure the integrity of Margaret Place

v improved security and traffic (speeding) control
